We tested fixRAgent on 49 photos anyone can check.
This is a first run, on a small set. Every photo is openly licensed or marked public domain, and 45 of them are shown below; the other 4 licences do not allow a resized copy, so we link to them at their source. We wrote down what each photo shows and how urgent it should be before we ran a single one. A second labeler, an AI session that never saw our labels and saw the photos under random names, sorted 49 of 49 the same way under the same written rule (its sheet). That shows the rule is applied the same way twice, not that the rule is right. Then the live engine answered each photo, on 14 October 2026, with no words from a resident, just the photo.
Dangers missed
Exposed wiring, scorched outlets, open panels, active leaks and standing water. A miss is any answer slower than TODAY; 23 came back TODAY or EMERGENCY. All 13 electrical photos came back EMERGENCY (0 below it).
False emergencies
A calm photo called EMERGENCY. The one: dry green corrosion on a copper pipe beside a junction box, which the engine read as a leak near electrics. We count it as wrong because we labelled it dry before the run, but the wall above is water-stained, so you may side with the engine. It is first in the list below.
Called TODAY when it could wait
3 dripping faucets, 3 spots of dry mineral scale and 3 spots of dry rust. Cautious, not dangerous: a manager would send someone a few days early.
Normal equipment left alone
Outlets, thermostats, sinks, faucets, toilets, a water heater, a radiator, a breaker panel and outdoor AC units with nothing wrong all came back WHENEVER, with no trade called.
How a photo is graded
Each photo was put in one of two groups before the run, with a one-line note of what it shows. The rule was written down at the same time and not changed after the answers came in.
- Danger photos need a person TODAY or sooner, so an answer of THIS WEEK or WHENEVER is a miss. Electrical: live parts of 50 volts or more must be guarded against accidental contact (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.303(g)(2)), and the NFPA tells residents to call an electrician or their landlord for discolored outlets and to keep cover plates on (NFPA, electrical safety in the home). Water: the EPA says to dry water-damaged areas within 24 to 48 hours to prevent mold (EPA, a brief guide to mold and moisture).
- Calm photos are a slow faucet drip, dry mineral scale, dry rust with no water, or normal equipment. An answer of EMERGENCY is a false emergency. An answer of TODAY is counted on its own, as a cautious call.
- Our own promise is stricter than the standards for wiring: when a photo shows wiring someone could touch, the answer should be EMERGENCY. That is fixRAgent's rule, not a code requirement, and we report it separately.
The engine is the same one the website, the resident stickers, the API and the AI connector use: three separate reads of the photo that vote, graded on one four-word urgency scale (EMERGENCY, TODAY, THIS WEEK, WHENEVER). Each answer below links to its saved Triage Profile.
What this test does not show
- It is small. 49 photos is enough to see the shape of the answers, not to quote a precise rate.
- These photos come from public photo sites, not from residents' phones, and none came with words. A resident usually says something, and words like "no heat" or "it smells like gas" change the answer.
- Each photo was answered once in this run (one photo, p49, was also sent once beforehand to check the request). The engine reads each photo three times and votes, but we have not yet re-run the set to measure how often a second run agrees.
- A still photo cannot show a noise, a smell or something that comes and goes. Nothing here tests that.
- We chose the photos. We looked for clear examples of each kind, so this is easier than a real inbox. That is the reason every photo, label and answer is published: check our choices.
